Luclin Leveling Guide 1 - 15

Staying in your noob zone is usually best for these early levels, for some races your noob zone sucks though so you may want to move to a different zone. Luclin Leveling Guide 15 - 25

With Luclin you start to get a large amount of different options for this level range which is great for soloers or boxers. The most grouped location during these levels is definitely Paludal Caverns which will take you all the way to 25 if you want it to. If you want to be left alone the Undead in Ocean of Tears is still a great location for this level range.

Older dungeons like Unrest, Najena, Upper Guk, Mistmoore will all have less people if you'd like to venture back to those places. With The Bazaar you should have no issue tweaking out your character if you have some plat. If you have at least some nice items I recommend you stick to Paludal Caverns even if you're solo or a boxer.

There'll be different picks for you if you want privacy and since this is still an early Luclin zones the mobs don't hit dramatically hard. I recommend you stay here cause the XP is just too good to pass up on. The zone is quite large so you'll be able to find a location where no one goes if privacy is your thing.

If you dislike the idea of Paludal as your primary location during this level range, here's a few others!

Upper Guk (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer Extremely Social - UGuk is one of the main dungeons for players during this level range. Much like Unrest it's going to be packed with groups, assuming that Classic is the current expansion.

Unrest (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer extremely social - Great zone for grouping during this level range. There's going to be quite a few groups here if your server only has Classic EQ and no future X-pacs. This is basically the Go-to place if you're LFG and on Faydwer after Crushbone.

OoT Undead (Field Killing) Solo/Boxer antisocial - This is one of my favorite leveling locations for this level range. Probably the best location for boxers/people looking to be left alone. Great XP - absolutely terrible plat though.

Netherbian Lair (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - 20+ Off the main paths of Netherbian Lair you'll find tunnels with two different types of fiends in them. They'll be tough if you're solo

Marus Seru (Field Killing) Group/Boxer/Solo - 20+ This location is quite good XP and plat for those in their low to mid 20s. Rockhopper hides sell in The Bazaar quite well and for quite awhile. You can group up and fight around the field area where all of the enemies roam or you can pull enemies away and to the outskirts of the zone by a zoneline for easy pickings. Be careful, the mobs here add like crazy!

Luclin Leveling Guide 25 - 35

After the Paludal level range you have a few different options depending on what you're looking to do..

Kite: Dreadlands, Dawnshroud Peaks, Overthere, Lavastorm Basilisks

Group: Hell, just about anywhere...

Box: Castle Mistmoore, Dreadlands, Dawnshroud Peaks, Splitpaw, Upper Guk & more

With it being Luclin you have so many different places to level I won't even list them all here. Instead I am going to give you more practical advice. If you're short on plat and you don't have really good gear you should consider stopping for a bit and making some platinum.

Since it's Luclin tweaking yourself out with a few really cheap, good pieces shouldn't be too difficult. I recommend giving Rathe Mountains Hill Giants a go for some plat if you need it - or if you want to play the "long game" so to speak and farm items, Marus Seru for Rockhopper Pelts will be an easy place, Dawnshroud for Rockhopper Pelts if you want XP while farming them.

Browse The Bazaar at least 2 or 3 times a week and try to check during off hours, when most people run their traders. Stick to buying the really good deals you see that way you will save as much plat as possible and you don't waste more time farming than you need too!

Rathe Mountains (Field Killing) extremely social - You'll find Hill Giants, cyclops and other enemies here to kill which drop tons of plat. It's one of the best xp/plat combo locations in the low 30s. I can only recommend this location to those looking to solo or box with lower numbers.

Crypt of Dalnir (Dungeon Crawl) antisocial zone - This zone has an amazing ZEM (Zone Experience Modifier) meaning it will give you more than average XP per kill making it great to level in. The mobs at the zone in are in the lower 30s and it gets progressively harder as you go. Bring a group with you or your own boxes as this zone is seldom traversed. Don't count on finding a group here.

Lake of Ill Omen (Soloers/Boxers/Groups/Kiters) - You have tons of room to kite + actual camps here. Can also work on your Howling Stones key via Jade Chokadai Prod

Crystal Caverns (Group/Boxer) semi-antisocial zone - This zone will calm down a bit in Luclin and even more in PoP, depending on your era you may or may not have trouble finding a group here. The zone is split into two areas, the orcs and their pit then the dungeon near the town.

Tower of Frozen Shadow (Dungeon Crawl) Groups/Boxers - Second Floor is a great place for this level range and I am told arguably the best. In order to go up different floors in the Tower of Frozen Shadow you'll need to first collect the key from the floor that you're on. I honestly am quite ignorant about the zone but if you're willing to learn how it works and group up here the XP is apparently quite rewarding.

Castle Mistmoore (Dungeon Crawl) group/antisocial/boxer - This location is a pretty nice dungeon crawl in this level range. Be careful going past the graveyard though unless you have out of group PL help. It can get messy quick past the GY as the mobs suddenly spike in level

The Overthere (SF Ramp) Boxers/Groups/Kiters - On the south side of The Overthere there's a ramp that is pretty famous for grouping at. You have a ton of mobs to pull and it is relatively safe hunting here except at night when evil guards from the outpost patrol around and kill anyone they don't like. The loot here isn't the best but the XP isn't bad until you reach the low 30s.

Dreadlands - (Field Killing) Boxers/Groups/Kiters/Solo antisocial zone - **Come here in your mid 30s at the earliest** My favorite location to kill in Dreadlands is just to the east of Karnor's Castle. The zoneline as well as the giant castle itself, the field that is between the zoneline to Firiona Vie and Karnor's Castle is primarily where I pull from. There is a huge level difference on the monsters out here, I think something like a level 10 spread but it is really easy going and good XP during this level range. You can always pull singles and you can pull them back far enough to where nothing will agro you while fighting. There is also plenty of room to kite.

Luclin Leveling Guide 35 - 45

If you didn't take my previous advice about stopping to farm a little for some platinum you really should now!! It's going to get much harder to keep leveling if you don't start getting some gear for your character. If you do have to proceed naked try to avoid Kunark, Velious and especially Luclin content. It will all hit significantly harder than classic content.

If you didn't take my previous advice then take it now!! You should devote some time to making some extra plat and buying some gear from The Bazaar. Try the Rathe Hill Giants, Giants outside Permafrost or even hit up the Ocean of Tears Cyclops which are great for this level!

Browse The Bazaar at least 2 or 3 times a week and try to check during off hours, when most people run their traders. Stick to buying the really good deals you see that way you will save as much plat as possible and you don't waste more time farming than you need too!

City of Mist (Dungeon Crawl) Boxers/Groups social zone - This zone is great for this level range, simply amazing honestly for both boxers and groupers alike. The zone is pretty big and there are plenty of pickings to go around. There's some decent loot here too such as Ornate Rune Shield and Slimy Green Ring.

Lower Guk (Dungeon Crawl/Camp) - Groups/Boxers antisocial zone - It's now a perfect time for you to learn camps like Mithril Runed Tunic, Shining Metallic Robes, Flowing Black Silk Sash, and the zone!

Ocean of Tears (Cyclops) - Groups/Boxers/Solo - This is one of my favorite locations for 35 - 42(45). The cyclops here are very easy, they don't hit very hard at all and they can drop some profitable loot. There's a rare chance for an ancient cyclops to spawn in the place of any other cyclops on the isle who drops Ring of the Ancients. The ring is used in the Jboots quest.

Karnor's Castle (Dungeon Crawl) Boxers/Groups antisocial zone - This zone can be a total nightmare if you plan to pull to a camp. As far as a dungeon crawl though, it is pretty standard of a zone. The ZEM is fairly good and the mobs here can be fairly squishy. They also commonly drop raw plat which makes up for the lack of vendor trash. Monks can do Karnor's Pipe here for their epic and casters can farm an Extended Range 3 focus off a nearby mob.

Dreadlands (Field Killing) Boxers/Groups/Kiters/Solo, antisocial zone - My favorite location to kill in Dreadlands is just to the east of Karnor's Castle.

Velketor's Labyrinth (Dungeon Crawl) - Group/Boxer The Icepaw family makes this zone pretty profitable to camp considering they drop Spider Fur Belt, Collar, Cloak fairly regularly, even the trash kobolds. Each of the named kobolds has their own loot table, some items good, some not so good. Lute of the Howler is the main item that stands out at the kobolds. Either way, you should be seeing a lot of bazaar sellables if you spend some time here.

Luclin Leveling Guide 45 - 55

Luclin offers many new places for players that are levels 50 - 60 to hunt which is good considering this is the expansion that adds in AAs! For levels 45 - 55 if you're looking to stick to Velious content I would recommend Velketor's Labyrinth, Siren's Grotto, Cobalt Scar for those looking for an easier time.

Those of you not looking to push new content will still find great XP in Old Seb and Chardok (especially as a boxer!) The Hole will still be good XP and it'll offer you an extremely antisocial experience and then you also have Howling Stones which won't see much traffic aside from Drusella.

Old Sebilis (Dungeon Crawl) - Boxers/Groups, social + antisocial zone - This is some of the best XP you can get in the game for Kunark the juggs also will make you rich. For 6 - 12 boxers I strongly recommend this zone as a dungeon crawl experience.

The whole right wing (where Disco 1 + 2 is) is great for lower level boxers/groups in here. The left wing is about the same level but I hate the slippery floor over there and it's much more of a nightmare to navigate than the disco area. The center area (Crypt) is generally always camped and isn't the best XP - mostly nameds.

The "underneath" part of old seb, juggs, myoconids, that's where the money/fun is at. Once you're 55+ you should venture down here and camp the King or protector/tolpumaj

Chardok (Dungeon Crawl) - Boxers/Groups, antisocial zone - This is a dungeon crawl type zone for boxers, can be lots of fun and quite profitable too. (I will post a more detailed description of this zone after I venture there)

Burning Woods (Field Killing) Boxers/Groups/Kiters/Solo, social zone - great and wide open for kiters; not only that but this zone is a hotspot for people 50 - 54. If you are in this level range and here you ... here comes the double negative ... can't not find a group!

Ocean of Tears (Elite Goblin Isle) - Boxers/Groups, antisocial zone (This place will be so desolate at the launch of Kunark that it's probably one of the best locations for just being left alone)

Skyfire Mountains (Solo Dragons) - Boxers/Kiters, social zone - good for kiters and the dragons also have a chance of dropping Kunark spells which can be very valuable

The Hole (Dungeon Crawl) - Boxers/Groups, antisocial zone . Not many people will venture here in kunark - small boxers can do Idol of the Underking and loam elementals/rock golems but it will take a bit more for you to handle the undead which drop withered.

Howling Stones (Dungeon Crawl) - Boxers/Groups, antisocial zone. There are no set named spawn locations really in this zone either, they can spawn randomly throughout the wings. Also to correct a few mistakes on the internet Enshrouded Veil, Golden Bracer, Stein of Tears, Melodious Truncheon are all zone wide rare items, they don't drop off of nameds or out of any specific wing. I am 100% sure on this. Although the Truncheon is MUCH more common off golems than any other mob I have found.

South wing is the most profitable to farm because of Hand of the Reaper and Fingerbone Hoop.

Siren's Grotto (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer Fellspine + lots of velious quest gems and Tradeskill gems. Both of which you can vendor for an insane amount of plat for how many drop- There are a few good camps in Siren's Grotto, one of the best would be Fellspine for his Spiked Seahorse Hide Belt. You'll be able to net a pretty penny for the belt for awhile to come. The zonewide ink that drops here is worth keeping to sell in the bazaar. Drums of the Beast, Sleeves of the Kelpmaidens, and other goodies drop here too!

Western Wastes (Field Killing) Group/Boxer - Western Wastes probably isn't the best for XP but what it lacks for in XP it makes up for in drops! There are a lot of named dragons that wander around out here and some of them can be killed with 1 group fairly easily. These dragons drop some of the really rare Velious spells such as Burnout IV, Protection of the Glades and so on. You'll mostly be making plat here but you'll get some XP too!

Dragon Necropolis - Boxer/Antisocial zone - The Phase Spiders here are fairly easy to kill and they all have a chance of dropping a Phase Spider Carapace which you could sell or use. Also there is a named Phase Spider in the eastern part of the zone, Queen Raltaas. She is very hard and drops Queen's Carapace. In the southern part of the zone you have snakes which is where Vilefang is and then you also have the Chetari rats which drop a few semi valuable things depending on your economy.

Acrylia Caverns (Dungeon Crawl) Group/Boxer - The area outside the castle can be done by a smaller and lower level force than the castle. I'm sure you're used to the routine by now, kill in the lower level area if you're LFG/low on numbers and if you can push into the castle for better xp and loot! The vendor trash here is pretty valuable and the XP is phenomenal. Probably the best of the X-pac!

Luclin Leveling Guide 55 - 60 (+ AA Grinds)

This section mostly focuses on locations that are good for players looking to grind AAs.

Dragon Necropolis (Chetari) Group/Boxer - If you would like to be left alone this is a great location to go! The camp location will be tough for those not in a full group and those whom are under geared.

Acrylia Caverns (Dungeon Crawl) Small Group/Boxer - During these levels you'll only find the castle to still be good XP. At 63 I was still getting over 1% AA a kill in a full group and I could very easily lay waste to many of the mobs here without needing a med break

Old Sebilis (Lower Floors) Group/Boxer - During these levels the Juggernauts and frogloks down by Trakanon are still good XP. They are also in really old content so the liklihood of running into other people is much lower. There won't be much interest in people killing Trakanon anymore and the majority of Old seb visitors stay on the upper floors.

Grieg's End (Dungeon Crawl) - Group/Boxer - This is a great zone for XP and is very frequented by higher level players 50 - 60. Unlike many zones you're used to Grieg's End doesn't really have nameds that spawn in just 1 location. The nameds here spawn in a large radius and can spawn in place of any monster you kill in that radius (assuming that the named isn't already spawned elsewhere in the zone). Greig's End doesn't have the best vendor trash nor the best loot but it falls somewhere inbetween on both.

Most of the loot from Greig's End has a level recommendation for it which greatly decreases its sell value. If you want a location that gives items to sell in The Bazaar as well as XP this may not be the best location for you. Here are some of the items that drop here: Ring of Lunacy, Mantle of Distraction, Pantaloons of Derangement, Helm of Senselessness, Book of Impracticality, Gauntlets of Dementia and more

Umbral Plains (Field Killing) Group/Boxer/Solo - This zone is definitely one of the best locations added in Luclin for both XP and loot. The mobs here hit very hard when you compare them to non Luclin content and have a ton of HP so I wouldn't recommend this location if you're under geared, under leveled or no AAs. You will get a ton of vendor drops here as well as decent NO DROP armor pieces that are on par with Classic Planar Gear. On top of those goodies you'll also find many Luclin spells and lots of really good gear that has no level recommendation on it.

Here are some examples of the loot that you can get in Umbral Plains: Wretched Pauldrons, Skull Marked Shield, Dream Weaver Webshield, Crown of the Hive, Gantru Charm, Flesh Eater's Eye, Vah Shir Skin Robe, Helm of Raldukan, Hive Fiend's Brain and much more - this is just the tip of the iceberg!
