Golden Sun: The Lost Age - Walkthrough Chapter 10
Head inside of Magma Rock and follow the only path available until you reach a statue that you can use Burst on. Doing this will fill your room with lava. Return to the previous room and jump across the moving platform to a new area, the chest in this area has a Lucky Medal inside of it. The route on the left leads you to that chest and the route on the right leads you to a switch which takes the lava out of the room.
There is a high likelihood you see a Djinni next to this switch too. It's a Djinni that is for people who never linked their games, they came over with less Djinn in total so there are extra Djinn in the game for them. A picture of the Djinni I am talking about is shown below. If you need help reaching the Djinni shown below check out my Djinni Locations (Part 5) for details on how to get down to him.
Getting to Fury from this location is rather easy. Fury is the Mars Djinni that you'll actually want to collect from this dungeon, check out my Djinni Locations (Part 4) for more information on where to find him. At this point in time Magma Rock opens up quite a bit. You'll want to climb down the wall into the pit that used to be filled with lava and exit to the northeast. Go through the room with the blue gem on the wall and go down the stairs.
Exit this room to the south as well and you'll find yourself inside another room with two exits in the south. This room is also talked about in my Djinni Locations (Part 4) guide for Fury, the southern room goes down to Fury. The northern exit will take you into a room where you can push a pillar down a track and into its permanent spot. Do this, grab Fury then fill this area with lava by using Burst on the statue.
Run around this room and across the dam in the bottom of the area - be careful not to hit the switch. Continue across the tight rope and take the southern exit. Use the floating platform to jump to the chest - it has a Mist Potion inside of it. South of this chest you'll need to jump across the pillar that we moved earlier and continue through the dungeon. The room after this is the same one that has the Fury Djinni inside of it (he's normally in the bottom left corner).
Now that the room is filled with lava it will have a floating platform that moves through the room from left to right once. If you miss the jump then you need to leave the room and come back and wait yet again. Our goal is to reach the doorway on the right hand side. In the next room you'll find two pillars that you can destroy with the Burst Psynergy. Destroy both and then exit this room to the north, you'll find yourself back in the large room with the button to drain the lava. This time you'll want to hit it and drain all of the lava.
With this we've managed to destroy multiple obstacles which created a few shortcuts for us and created a path to advance further into the dungeon. Head through the south-central exit in the room you drained the lava in and climb up the wall and down the next one to find yourself in the area shown below.
Just like before, you're looking for a doorway with a blue gemstone overtop of it - this tells us where to go to advance further into the dungeon. Follow the linear path through a couple of rooms until you reach an area where you can use Burst on another statue to fill the room with lava. This will activate the moving platforms in the center of the room which will rotate around and allow you to cross over to the left hand side.
Exit to the south and continue south one more time to find a button that you can press to drain the lava - do so. Return to the previous room and swing across the chains by using Whirlwind to bring them to you. Remember the vines from the previous dungeon we swung across? It works the same exact way. Swing across both chains and climb down into the pit. Go up into the previous room and travel over to the eastern side for a chest with a Salamander Tail inside of it.
After collecting this chest go up into another room and push all 3 pillars over to the right - this will let us access a new area the next time we fill the room with lava. Before we fill the room with lava though exit to the northeast and grab the chest with a Golem Core inside of it. Exit this room (enter the room south of this one and push a pillar to the right to create a shortcut) and fill the room we're in with lava to advance.
Once the area has been filled with lava you'll want to follow the linear route around the various rooms to reach the area shown below. Here you'll want to push the pillar into the lava which will create a path for us once we drain the lava again.
Visit the room to the north of this one and step on the switch to drain the lava. Return to the room shown in my picture above and use the pillar to access the doorway marked with a blue gemstone. Go downstairs and push the pillar all the way to the left and into the lava. Do you remember this room? If you take the exit in the bottom right you'll find yourself back outside of the dungeon - that's right! We've made it all the way back to the entrance!
To continue exit this area in the west by jumping across the pillar. In the next room jump across the various platforms and there will be a short scene of the lava in the middle erupting. Obstacles will pour out from the middle and litter the room, jump around all of them and exit to the north.
Keep going north across the three platforms and enter into the door - continue north in this room and you will reach a tablet at the end. When you inspect this tablet it will teach Jenna the Blaze Psynergy which you'll need to finish this dungeon.
Jenna learns the Blaze Psynergy
Follow the only available path around to an island with a pillar and a flame on it. You need to stand on the far end of the flame and use Blaze while you're facing the spot you want to light on fire. Imagine it like this, when you use Blaze while you're facing a fire it will create a flamethrower of sorts. Using Blaze on its own without a catalyst like this fire doesn't do much at all.
Using Blaze to light the fire will lower the pillar and let you pass. Exit this room and go one room to the south, remember all the obstacles that got spit up in this room as we were crossing the platforms? Go to the bottom of this room and position yourself to the right of the fire, use Blaze next to it and you'll shoot flame across the room to hit the area by the pillar. Light the second flame using the first and the pillar will be lowered revealing a doorway.
Continue through the door and follow the linear path, it will lead you around to the very same room we just left. Now that we have access to this part of the room you'll want to jump down and inspect the magma rock (pictured below). This will get you the Magma Ball item which is what we came here for. What an odd way of giving us a Key Item, not many people would think to inspect this random rock!
Once you've collected the Magma Ball and your Djinn it's time to leave this dungeon and head over to the town of Loho.
You'll find a group of NPCs in the eastern part of Loho standing around a cannon. In order to get this cannon from them you'll need to get rid of their wall problem. To do that insert the Magma Ball that we just got into the cannon and when the scene is over - it'll be yours! Before you leave Loho you'll want to grab the Jupiter Djinni here, check out Djinni Locations (Part 4) for more information.
Leave town and enter it again to reset the area behind the wall and fill it with clutter. Here you can find two Golem Cores, one you have to Scoop out of the ground (it's half sticking out and easy to find). The next Golem Core is obtained by using Lift on the boulder and then Scoop on the area behind it.
Before you continue with the main story I recommend you swing by Yallam and talk with Sunshine to craft these Golem Cores and other goodies we've found into new items. When you're done with all of this it's time to advance the story, head north of Loho to Kalt Island and then go directly north of that to reach the Northern Reaches.
The Northern Reaches are a very linear dungeon and it acts like the Sea of Time we went through earlier. When you reach the northern most point in the Northern Reaches you'll be able to blast down the ice wall and proceed into the final area of the game with Prox and the Mars Lighthouse.
Inside Prox there are two Djinn which you can capture - depending on your game. If you're playing a linked game (and you caught all the Djinn in Golden Sun 1) then there will only be a single Djinni for you to get here. Either way, check out my Djinni Locations (Part 4) to learn how to get Mold and Djinni Locations (Part 5) if you need the other Djinni from Prox, Tonic.
Tip: If you want a piece of Dark Matter use Lift on the boulder near the entrance of Prox, slide across the ice and then use Scoop on the item you see near the igloo. You can also find a Cookie inside the jar outside the Inn on the left.
As far as the story goes, you'll want to go one screen north of Prox. Follow the left path and you'll have a scene here with the leader of Prox, a man named Puelle. There will be a scene here where you offer to go to the Mars Lighthouse on behalf of the village and light it. Exit to the north of these guys and continue north to the Mars Lighthouse.
Mars Lighthouse - The Final Dungeon
Finally, we've reached the Mars Lighthouse which marks the final mandatory dungeon of the game. This dungeon is going to be split into two parts for this guide, the first half of this dungeon covers the two Djinni, learning Teleport and acquiring the best weapon in the game. After you learn Teleport there is some optional stuff you can do - including more Djinni and the completion of optional dungeons and side quests.
That's why once we learn Teleport we'll leave, complete the optional content then... Teleport back here! Isn't that so handy? When you're ready to start with this dungeon climb up the outside ladder portion of the lighthouse and open the chest on top for an Apple. Head inside of the lighthouse and use Pound on the pillar in the bottom right of the entrance room, the chest is a Mimic but once defeated it will drop a Cookie.
Exit the first room in the top right follow the linear route through the next room and back through the main room. This will put you into a new area with stairs in the south that go up and lead you to a room with a long pipe throughout. Keep following the linear path until you reach a dead end (pictured below). Fugue will be here and there will be a large block of ice in the area with you.
Use your Grind Psynergy on the ice here and return to the downstairs area where it cracked. You'll want to use Burst on the crack downstairs and go through the new passage into the next room. On the floor you'll see a large circle design that you've likely seen many times before, this is a teleportation circle which we'll be able to use really soon.
For now you'll want to exit this area in the bottom left (head up the stairs and into the room with the dragon statues that breathe fire). Our goal in this room is to move the dragon statue on the left all the way across the room to the right; park it in front of the fire to block the flame. You may want to bind the Move Psynergy to L or R for this. If you get hit by the fire you'll be knocked off and you will have to start all over again.
The next room will have a sliding ice portion which you can easily navigate by going up, right, down, left. Keep following the path until you come to the area shown in my screenshot below. You've seen these before in the dungeon - basically each dragon head has a podium attached to it and you can use your Blaze Psynergy to spread fire onto them.
Use Burst on the torch while facing the podium
When you use Blaze on this podium it will make the dragon shoot a fireball which cracks the ice. You know what that means! Head to this room and you can finish the ice off with a Burst. For now there isn't anything to do in that room - if you use Reveal inside of the room you will discover a teleportation pad - but we can't use it yet.
East of this room you'll find another torch placed near a dragon head statue. Use Blaze on the torch just like before and you'll make the dragon spit fire and clear the path to the south. In the next room the first door you pass has a chest with an Orihalcon inside. The doorway to the far left puts you in a room with a bunch of ice pillars that you can Pound and a giant fireball that prevents you from going up the middle.
You'll need to run up the right hand side and Pound all of the pillars you see. Then run up the middle and Pound the remaining pillars as you go up. Dodging the fireball is more annoying than difficult for this part. The next big room that you come to is going to have another ice sliding puzzle, there's a Djinni in this puzzle too.
Before we start it's very important that you use Move on the left dragon statue here and push it into the corner - like you see in my picture. This will allow us to finish the puzzle and get both the Djinni as well as reach the exit.
Use Move on the dragon statue and push it into the pit to the left
The puzzle has the same exact movements to get the Djinni as well as to reach the exit. Basically, when you reach the end of this puzzle you're given the choice of going down to get the Djinni or going up to reach the exit. You can go down, grab the Djinni then immediately go up to the exit. Follow my steps below to get both.
(Djinni & Exit) From the Entrance: Down, Left, Down, Left, Up, Right, Up, Left, Down, Left, Down & Up
In the very next room you'll want to slide down and grab the Teleport Lapis from the chest. This finally unlocks the Teleport Psynergy for us. Before we leave the dungeon and do some side quests we want to go a little bit further first to collect some better loot and finish up the first part of what we're doing in here. Use your new Teleport Psynergy while standing on the stone circle to be transported down a little bit.
Next, we need to return to that room from earlier that had the teleportation circle we could only see with Reveal. It was the second bit of ice that we cleared with Burst inside of this dungeon - if you're confused of what area I am talking about below you'll find a picture.
Use Reveal in the circle of objects to uncover a teleportation pad; Use Teleport on this pad
Once you find the room pictured above you'll want to use Teleport on the pad to travel to a new part of this dungeon. Exit this room in the north and then climb down the stairs in the new room and travel all the way to the west. You'll find a ladder down here that leads to a chest with Valkyrie Mail inside.
The way this next part works is - when you slide down in this room you'll land on a switch that starts a timer. Failing to complete the course in the required time will get you pushed down into the hole and you'll have to start over. The course is actually pretty easy to complete, you'll have to use Pound on a bunch of pillars that are in your way but the route is pretty linear.
Skip the next teleporter you come across and follow the linear route to the end. You'll find a dragon statue spitting a fireball at a teleportation pad... If you tried to use that teleporter before you likely got hit by this fireball. Use your Move Psynergy on the statue here and move it to block the fire from hitting the dragon head podium.
Now you can return to the teleportation pad and use Teleport on it. This will take you to another new part of the dungeon.
