The Legend of Dragoon Guides & Walkthroughs

The Legend of Dragoon is a Playstation 1 JRPG from Squaresoft that consists of 4 discs that span a total of 60 - 70hrs of play time. This game is very cinematic in its battle system, most attacks while in Dragoon Form take 30 seconds or more to activate which is what you'll be spending most of your time doing while playing the game.

Putting the Dragoon Spirits to rest (Sidequest)

Putting Dragoon Spirits to Rest

Late in the game, you will be able to return to Vellweb and complete a side quest that wasn't available to you the first time you came here. This sidequest doesn't give anything really useful outside of a lot of experience for you and your party. Each battle does reward you with an item but nothing that's really powerful this late in the game.

Magician Faust

Magician Faust

Before you can even attempt the Magician Faust side quest you'll need to collect all 50 Stardust which will net you the Vanquishing Stone. Once you have this item you'll need to travel to Flanvel Tower which is the same place where you faught Lloyd a bit earlier in the game. You'll be able to challenge a powerful boss inside this tower named Magician Faust.

Polter Armor - Dart's Ultimate Weapon

Polter Armor Darts Ultimate Weapon

The Polter Armor is an easy boss fight that takes place in Fort Magrad (an area just off the Snowfield; around the same spot where you spent a night in a cave when Lloyd was in your custody). Beating it will give you Dart's ultimate weapon, which in my opinion aint even that good since it drains health each round.

Legend of the Dragoon Black Screen / Game Freezing Glitch

How to get Blue Stone

One of the more common issues people experience while playing Legend of the Dragoon (especially on an emulator) is black screen, dialogue boxes won't close, character can't move or other game breaking bugs that won't let you progress past that point. This will hopefully help some of you out who experience these issues.

1. Unplug your controller/plug it back in

2. Create a Save State in a spot you aren't actively using and then exit complety out of your emulator, boot it back up and Load that Save State. If you still can't move, load up any other Save State and see if the controller works, if it doesn't try something else, if it does, load the previous Save State and it'll work again.

3. If the previous steps don't work then what you'll want to do is find a Save Point and save then exit out of the game/emulator completely. Load it all back up and load the game using your save file instead of a Save State. This allows the game to clear its cache of all code that isn't being used, this is very important for some games!
