Cheapest Way to Raise A Monster That Doesn't Suck

If you're poor in Monster Rancher 2 and unable to afford the Magic Banana route or even the rigorous training regimen I suggest in my How to Raise a Monster Guide then this training regimen is hopefully more up your alley. This method is about half the cost but it also won't let you get the most out of your Monster in its lifespan.

Those of you reading this who are unable to afford the better training method, it's strongly recommended you raise a Monster or two that's sole purpose is to make you money. Unless you have a lot of money to spend on items, errantries and everything else you need, it's really tough raising a Monster with high stats before it dies.

It's ok if you can't afford Nut Oils for your Monster to lower its fatigue or if you can't afford Magic Bananas to increase its lifespan - but you almost always need to buy Mint Leaves at minimum once a month otherwise your Monster will get stressed out by even the most relaxing training methods.

That's what I did when I was broke and struggling to afford items for my monster. At the same time though you need to realize you'll raise a really gimpy monster by resting him so much throughout the month. Every other week or third week you'll have to feed him two Mint Leaves as well or he'll get stressed out occasionally. That depends a lot on your monster and their likes/dislikes.

If you're reading this page and you're using this cheap method because you're broke that's find but keep in mind that you should raise a monster or two whose sole purpose is to battle for money. Better yet, you should raise 1 monster the expensive way that I talk about in my How to Raise A Monster Guide and get it to S class to unlock the Major 4 Battles. Then freeze your monster and each time a Major 4 Battle comes around unfreeze him and participate. This will get you 10,000G per battle.

The reason I am telling you all of this is because raising a monster the cheap way is a total waste. You sacrifice half of its lifespan resting when you could be training instead; that means your monster can never achieve its true potential doing it this way.

Continue with this training method throughout the majority of the monster's life until you're ready to start Battling with him. One you start doing Battle it'll mess the entire training regimen up since you'll always need to Rest after you participate in Battle, sometimes twice if your monster wasn't fully well before going.

What I recommend you do to make even more money is raise a monster up with high stats and clear S rank, this will get you invites to the Grand Prix and Great Four tournaments which reward 10,000G each. So long as your monster is 900+ in Skill, their attack stat (Strength/Intelligence) and ~300 in Life/Defense/Speed they'll win these tournaments fairly easily.

Once you have a monster this powerful take him to down and Freeze him in the Lab until a tournament day comes along. When there's an available tournament to participate in, unfreeze him and win 10,000G that day, Rest him the next day and Freeze him again. This will allow you to use that single monster for over a dozen tournament wins without worrying about it dying on you.
