Superb Animal Pelts are one of the higher level Cultural Pelts added into the game during the The Serpent's Spine expansion pack. The Cultural Tradeskill materials usually have a low chance (about 5 - 10%) of dropping off various enemies within their level bracket; for Superb Animal Pelts that means 60 - 80.
Those of you out there looking to farm Superb Animal Pelts will have great luck in the SoD and SoF zones. Places like Dragonscale Hills, Loping Plains, Bloody Kithicor, Old Commonlands are all great for farming not only Superb Animal Pelts but other Cultural Tradeskill materials as well. Just try to hunt mostly humanoid or undead enemies for the best chance of finding pelts. Not every enemy type drops them!
