Guild Wars 2 Legendary Weapon Guide
As many of you know, getting your Legendary Weapon is one of the highest achievements possible within Guild Wars 2. At the current time I am typing this I would go as far to say the Legendary Weapon and the quest to acquire it is probably the only endgame content currently in Gw2. Despite Legendary Weapons being endgame gear, almost the entire thing can be done solo. The only part of Legendaries that require you to group up is the part that has you collect 500 Dungeon Tokens. The type of tokens you need changes depending on the Legendary you want. I will get into this later.
Each player's legendary weapon has multiple parts. You need 4 items in total to combine the legendary in the Mystic Forge. Two of these items are always the same, Gift of Fortune and Gift of Mastery. The other two change depending on what Legendary Weapon you are creating. For this guide I am only going to cover the pieces of the legendary that remain constant. Despite not covering the other Gift this guide will still be extremely conclusive and will help you with the most difficult parts of acquiring your Legendary Weapon.
To get started let's take a look at the most basic things you can do to start working towards your legendary. Below you can find a video which will give you some basic tips for saving time and money when creating a Legendary Weapon. Below that video I will break down a lot of the tips included into a text version, that way even if you don't watch the video you can still get the jist of what was said during it.
An Economist's Guide to Saving Time & Money On A Legendary Weapon
- Always place Buy Orders when you need materials, it will save you money versus actually buying out the material
- Just save the money that you need for the precursor, don't use the Mystic Forge. 99% of the time you will regret using it.
- Take the Legendary one step at a time, if you try and do it all at once you'll quickly be overwhelmed and become discouraged.
- Explore additional things you can do each day to increase how much money you make. Watch my How To Make More Money Everyday video to get an idea of different ways to increase your daily profit.
Now with that out of the way let's start breaking down each piece of the legendary. As I mentioned earlier I don't plan on covering the entire legendary weapon. What I plan to do is help you with the hardest part of the legendary, acquiring the gold for it. Out of everyone I have talked to or every conversation I have heard about legendaries this is most commonly refered to as the hardest part of acquiring the weapon, farming the gold required for it.
There are tons of different locations you can farm for your legendary weapon and in the guide linked below I go over a lot of these locations. I don't go into vivid details in this guide but I do provide links to other guides for each location that do. The purpose of this Legendary Farming Guide is to give you a wide variety of locations to choose from. Hopefully this will help prevent you from getting bored while farming which should help you make even more gold.
Farming for your Legendary Weapon
That guide should really help you with different ideas for farming your legendary without getting bored so quickly. I'm not saying that using this guide will stop you from ever getting bored while farming, far from it infact! But it should provide you with enough ideas that you can try which, by the time you finish all of them, should leave you a noticeable amount closer to your legendary than before you started. Keep in mind that I will update my Legendary Farming Guide frequently.
Anytime I come up with a new location that deserves to have a place in the guide I will add it there. If you're wondering what qualifies a location to be entered into that guide, I am looking for lighthearted fun locations, most of them now are gathering locations as I find them to be the more tolerable. What's more boring? Farming mobs for an hour or running around and farming nodes for an hour? In my personal experience more people pick the node farming.
Now there is one more part that I said I was going to go over for acquiring your Legendary Weapon and this part is the Gift of Mastery and Gift of Fortune.
