Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is a 2D side-scrolling platformer video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in North America on November 20, 1995, and in Europe on December 14, 1995. The game follows Diddy Kong and his girlfriend Dixie Kong as they set out on a quest to rescue Donkey Kong from the clutches of the evil Kremling King K. Rool. Like its predecessor, the game features pre-rendered 3D graphics and uses a variety of animal companions to help the player navigate through the levels. However, this time around, the player can also control Dixie Kong, who can use her ponytail to glide through the air and reach new areas. The game was critically acclaimed upon release, with praise directed towards its graphics, gameplay, and soundtrack. It is often considered one of the best platformers on the SNES and has been re-released on several platforms, including the Game Boy Advance, Wii Virtual Console, and Nintendo Switch Online.
