Pirates of Dark Water is a side-scrolling action-adventure game based on the animated television series of the same name. The game was developed by Sunsoft and published by Sony Imagesoft for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1994. In the game, the player controls Ren, the protagonist of the series, as he sets out on a quest to find the thirteen treasures of Rule and put an end to the evil pirate lord, Bloth. The gameplay involves fighting enemies with Ren's sword, jumping and climbing through various levels, and solving puzzles to progress. The game received mixed reviews, with critics praising the graphics and sound but criticizing the repetitive gameplay and lack of depth. Despite its flaws, Pirates of Dark Water remains a cult classic among fans of the television series.
