Shining Force III is a tactical role-playing game that was released for the Sega Saturn in 1997 in Japan, and it was later released in three parts, known as scenarios, between 1997 and 1998. It was developed by Sega's Sonic! Software Planning division, also known as Camelot Software Planning, and published by Sega. Shining Force III is the third main entry in the Shining Force series and is known for its strategic turn-based combat, engaging storyline, and memorable characters.

The game is set in the fantasy world of Rune, where players control a young hero named Synbios who becomes embroiled in a conflict between two nations, Aspinia and Destonia. Players must assemble a team of diverse characters, each with their own unique abilities and skills, to engage in strategic battles against enemy forces. The game features a grid-based battle system that requires careful positioning and strategic planning to defeat enemies and achieve victory.
