This quest begins by reading the Oxenfurt Notice Board or by visiting Benek, the village you have to go to for this quest. In Benek you'll have to speak with an old man who asks you to collect a dragonsroot for him in a nearby cave. The cave is a short hike away and your Witcher Senses will reveal the dragonsroot to you. While you're in this town you'll also be able to pick up the side quest, Contract: Phantom of the Trade Route, if you do not already have it.

Guarding the root inside the cave is four ghouls, all of which are much lower level than the quest and should be no problem for you to defeat. You'll find the dragonsroot along the eastern end of the cave wall/quest circle on your compass. It'll glow red with your Witcher Senses on, as it should. Grab it and return to Benek to give it to the old man.
