Selphie Card - FF8 Guide

You can get Selphie's Card on Disc 2 anytime after visiting Trabia Garden and completing the story parts of the game that take place here. The first girl Selphie was talking to when you visited this place next to the fountain is the one that you will have to play for Selphie's Card.

The hardest part of acquiring Selphie's Card will be dealing with the rules in Trabia. If you didn't change any of them earlier on Disc 1 while you were in Galbadia Garden then you'll have to deal with a really annoying set of rules, such as Random and Plus. Selphie's Card will Card Mod into 3 Elem Guard Items which teach a GF the Elem-Defx4 Ability. You can also refine the Elem Guard items into Elixirs using the Forbid Med-RF Ability if you'd like as well. As for the Elem-Defx4 ability, only Alexander and Doomtrain learn this naturally so it's highly recommended you teach it to at least one GF.

I highly recommend you use at least two of the Elem Guard items to teach your GFs Elem-Defx4. Don't change it into Elixirs, that's a complete and total waste. Note: If you need to free up some ability slots on a GF purchase Amnesia Greens from the Timber Pet Shop and unlearn abilities that you don't need (Draw, Item, Magic, GF as well as unlearning Elem-Defx2 if you plan to learn Elem-Defx4 is a good idea).

Carbuncle or Siren make a good choice for using the Elem Guard on as they're often not paired together with Doomtrain or Alexander.

Quezacotl, Shiva, Ifrit, Brothers, Leviathan, Pandemona and Alexander all learn Elem-Defx2 naturally and would be good candidates for this ability as well. Use Amnesia Greens on them to unlearn Elem-Defx2 and replace it with Elem-Defx4. Of the mentioned GFs, Brothers, Siren and Leviathan are often not paired with Doomtrain or Alexander in my guides.
