D-pad: Move your character
A button: Shoot your weapon
B button: Jump
L button: Cycle through your weapons
R button: Use a special weapon (when available)
Start button: Pause the game

 

Button Combinations

Double tap left or right: Dash in that direction
Press down while jumping: Perform a downward attack
Hold down while shooting: Fire in a fixed direction
Press A and B simultaneously: Use a bomb
Press L and R simultaneously: Use a screen-clearing smart bomb (when available)
