Halo Reach (MCC) Firefight Guide - Installation 04

Installation 04 Loading Screen

The Installation 04 map is a remade area from the second mission of the original Halo game. In my opinion this is one of the best Reach Firefight maps thanks to the large installation in the middle of this area. On this structure you'll find a few Health Kits along with an ammo supply station if you're playing regular Firefight.

In addition to the ammo supply station in the central structure you'll also find one inside of the small bunker in the southeastern portion of this map. Keep an eye out for Health Kits in this same area too, there are Health Kits in weird places all throughout this map like inside bunkers or next to rocks.

For those of you playing Heroic Firefight or a Custom Game version of Firefight, my advice to you would be to defend the installation in the middle. This structure is extremely defensible from enemy attacks and since it has the sole ammo supply on the map - this is where you'll want to stay. Of course there are various reasons you'll want to abandon this structure too and hunt enemies outside of it.

One of the good reasons not to camp the structure is if you're using the Warthog on this map or looking for a Health Pack. Anyone out there who is good at driving the Warthog will typically get the high score on this map, depending on the game mode you're playing. Fiesta, Sniper and Rocket fights all typically have a Warthog near where you spawn and no soldiers that come with it.

When you're playing regular Firefight you'll get Warthog deployments which will come with a gunner already attached to the vehicle for you. Even if you use the AI soldier you'll still get a lot of kills with solid driving skills. Those of you who are playing Fiesta, Sniper or Rocket fights will want to ignore most of the advice I just gave. For these game modes you'll typically want to pick a good part of the map to camp for enemies and then start blastin'!

Installation 04 Sniper Spot 1   Installation 04 Sniper Spot 2

If you are playing the Fiesta, Sniper or Rocket game modes then you will spawn nearby the location in the screenshot above. This location is only good if you're playing with snipers but I felt that it was so good it deserved its own call out. From this spot you are able to see about 3/4 of the entire map and you're safe enough here that you never have to move.

My only piece of advice would be to snipe the Drop Ship's turret on approach that lands right next to you. Sometimes its can blast you so much that it takes away your shields which is obviously not good, especially when it comes to the DMR and Sniper elites. Otherwise, you can hang out in this location the entire game up until the Bonus Round. Normally that's when I start moving around to score more points.

Extra Tips & Tricks

- When you are playing Sniper, Rocket, Fiesta or any of the other arcade game modes for Firefight you should always use a Jet Pack Loadout. When using a Jet Pack and getting a killing blow you'll be rewarded the Firebird Medal which will get you more EXP overall. You only get the Firebird Medal when you are holding down the button and ascending with the Jet Pack. Letting go of the button and scoring the KB on the descend will not earn you this medal.

- During normal Firefight modes the Target Locator will have its ammo restored after each round. For this reason it's strongly recommended you do not get rid of this weapon after you use up its ammo; if you die while holding the Target Locator return to where you died and pick it up again before it's despawned at the end of the round. As far as the best time to use the Target Locator, typically towards the end of the round. Not the final set because the final set is very small but the 3rd or 4th sets are normally when I end up using it.

- Want some advice on what weapons to use during Firefight and why? I have put together a Halo Reach Firefight Weapon Tier List that you may find helpful in determining what weapons you want to pick up and keep on your character.
