Greater Frost Protection Potion Recipe Farming Location (Classic - WotLK)

Note: Before coming to this location make sure you have the Cache of Mau'rai item. It'll dramatically increase how much gold you can make per hour farming here since it allows the Frostmaul E'ko item to drop from these giants along with many other creatures in Winterspring.

In the southern most portion of Winterspring in Frostwhisper Gorge and on the surrounding cliffs you'll find Frostmaul Giants and Frostmaul Preserver enemies (pictured above). These enemies are level 59 or 60 elites and they'll be tough to defeat for anyone who is solo or in bad gear.

These enemies drop two items of real value, the first and most common of which is the Frostmaul E'ko. This can be turned in for the item Juju Might item which increases your attack power by 40 for 10minutes and it stacks with every other buff in the game. Due to this, the Frostmaul E'ko is extremely valuable and raiders pay a premium for it.

As for the second item of value, it's the item that this page is named after - Greater Frost Protection Potion Recipe! This recipe only drops from the Frostmaul Giants in this area, not the Frostmaul Preservers. However, the Giants and Preservers share a spawn location so you'll have to hunt both anyway if you plan to stay at this location.

If you have the Cache of Mau'rai you can also hunt the Shardtooth Bears that are in the area just north of Darkwhisper Gorge. The Shardtooth E'ko is used in the quest to get the Juju that increases your Fire Resistances by 15. Tanks use this Juju all the time for Ragnaros and other fights that require Fire Resist. Last but not least, for those of you that have a gathering profession - there are tons of goodies for you to grab in the local area! Miners will find Rich Thorium, Small Thorium and Mithril throughout the entire area and Herbalists will find Mountain Silversage, Dreamfoil and Icecap as well as a Black Lotus if you get really lucky!
