Asteroids is a classic arcade video game developed and published by Atari, Inc. and released in 1979. It is considered one of the most influential and iconic video games of the early arcade era. Players control a spaceship in the middle of an asteroid field. The objective is to survive for as long as possible while destroying asteroids and avoiding collisions with them. As players progress, the number and speed of asteroids increase, making the game more challenging.
