As you probably already realized, the main difference between the games is graphics. State of Decay 2 is a million times more beautiful than the first in basically every way.

The second major improvement is more maps! In State of Decay 2 you can choose from multiple maps when starting your Community and you can even move between them as you play! Although moving between them will reset any progress you've made on them.
