How Not to Make Money Through the Auction House

Now as you can see on my Netherweave Sales page Sushi went through the Auction House and bought all my Netherweave at 12g a stack. He cleaned out the entire Auction House and put a couple dozen or so stacks up for 45g buyout. I usually admire people that do this because the amount of money they can make by jacking up a market like this is amazing. However this guy is a complete and total idiot and has no idea how to do it. Not only did he buy out all the Netherweave on the Auction House and put his own up he flooded the market.

When doing something like this you need to know the market, which he obviously doesn't since I bet he rarely gets any sales of 45g per stack of Netherweave. In fact, if he got a SINGLE sale from the Netherweave it would probably just barely pay for the deposit cost he invested in putting all the stacks he did up. When you're trying to jack up a market you NEVER EVER EVER EVER NEVER want to flood it with a certain item. Not only does it tell people that item is common and not worth as much gold as you have it up for... The sheer amount of money it will take to put it up with all the deposits will not give you a decent income.

His biggest mistake and really the only thing I have a problem with is the stupidity of not following through. He cleared the entire Auction House but didn't continue to clear the Auction House when people put their Netherweave back up. The only way you can do something like this is to camp the Auction House and buy out anyone that undercuts you. Instead he let me put another 20 - 30 stacks on the Auction House for 12g buyout and didn't buy them.

Now this guy has the balls for doing something like this but not the smarts.
