Controls

D-Pad: Move character
A: Use tool or confirm selection
B: Cancel, put away tool, or run
L: Toggle map display
R: Toggle menu display
Start: Pause game, display menu
Select: Show/hide money total on screen

In addition, there are various button combinations you can use to perform different actions, depending on what tool you have equipped:

 

With the hoe equipped:

Hold A and move the D-Pad to till soil.

 

With the watering can equipped:

Press A next to a water source to fill the watering can.
Hold A and move the D-Pad to water crops.

 

With the axe equipped:

Press A to swing the axe and chop down trees or stumps.

 

With the hammer equipped:

Press A to swing the hammer and smash rocks or boulders.

 

With the sickle equipped:

Hold A and move the D-Pad to cut down weeds or grass.

 

 

Note: Hold A when using most tools to charge it up; this will allow you to smash larger objects or deal more damage with your swing.
