Halls of Lightning Instance Guide

Halls of Lightning is located in Storm Peaks near Ulduar. Halls of Lightning is the hardest 5man instance that was added in WoTLK. It's best known for it's Tough final boss, Loken, that drops the best 2h axe you can get from Heroics, the Colossal Skull-Clad Cleaver. Halls of Lightning only has four bosses and doesn't have any difficult achievements to get.

General Bjarngrim

Normal Strategy: Most important thing to keep in mind is DO NOT PULL THIS BOSS WHEN HE IS CHARGED. He will cause 30% more damage which is really bad. He will charge himself and un charge himself at specific platforms along this whole area. Once you get him uncharged, the fight is rather simple...

This boss has 3 stances that he switches between during the fight. Battle Stance, Defensive Stance and Berserk Stance. Battle Stance is fast attacks, Defensive stance makes him stronger and gives him spell reflect and Berserk makes him attack slow but hit hard. Battle Stance is the only stance i fear during this whole fight (as a tank). The main ability he has which you need to move away from is Whirlwind. Other then that its a rather simplistic fight.

Heroic Strategy: Same as Normal, just harder.

Volkhan

Normal Strategy: When engaged he will summon some Molten Golem adds, and more throughout the fight. As they take damage they will move slower, when they reach 1hp they will freeze. Then a short time after you freeze his adds Volkhan will use Shattering Stomp which will cause the adds to burst and deal heavy damage to players around them. Moral of the fight, stay away from frozen adds.

Heroic Strategy: Same as normal

Normal Strategy: At every 25% this boss changes into 4 sparks of lightning that will chase around a random group member, dealing damage to everyone who gets close. The only other thing to keep in mind for this boss is that he has a ability called Static Overload, it will deal damage to the player effected by it and damage to everyone near him.

Heroic Strategy: Same as normal.

Normal Strategy: This is a lot easier on normal then it is on heroic. Most important thing to keep in mind is stay together. His AoE ticks harder the further you are from each other and the further you are from him. Tank Loken and hug the tank until he starts casting Lightning Nova. At that point run away from Loken (AS A GROUP, STAY TOGETHER) then when its done being cast, run back. If you can follow this basic strategy, then you're golden.

Heroic Strategy: Same as normal, but a CRAP ton harder.
