Mother 3 Walkthrough - Chapter 8

This Chapter begins when you arrive in New Pork City. You'll be given the City Map by the Chauffeur when you first arrive, there will be a short scene after which he'll take off and leave you. I recommend you explore town and see the sights, there are tons of people to talk to and lots to see and do.

One of the more important things to do in town is hit up the vending machine in the northern end. A picture of the vending machine I am talking about is shown below, there are tons of upgrades here and you'll want to buy as many as you can afford. If you need to save money avoid buying weapon upgrades for Kumatora and Duster and avoid buying Scorpio Bracelet for your main character and Duster. You'll find upgrades for these characters inside of presents soon. Buy everything else that you can afford and that you need.

New Pork City Vending Machine

When you're ready to continue with the main story you'll want to visit the theater which is in the southeastern portion of town. If you're having trouble finding it open your map, see the large circular building that's purple in the bottom right? That's the theater!

Inside the theater I recommend you buy an Angel Ribbon for Kumatora and a Red Hat for your main character and his dog. When you're done head into the theater and talk with people inside. In the top right of the theater you'll find a guy with a red mohawk; he'll tell you that your leader is being held at the MT Apartments and you must go through the sewers to get there.

Next, you'll want to examine the chair in the top left corner of the middle group. In other words, the chair that's near the lady with black hair closest to the movie screen. Upon examining this area you'll see "This area REALLY stinks" and a Stink Bug will jump out. Watch the quick scene, it ends with your dog digging a hole into a speaker in the left hand side of the room.

Go behind the girl with black hair and search the speaker on the far left wall, when prompted select yes. You can't actually fit through the hole though so we'll need to find another way. Exit the building and travel west to the Arcade. Talk with the man here that has a red mohawk and he will mention that he's been hearing a dog whimpering for awhile (pictured below).

Arcade Listening To Dog Whimpering
After losing your dog at the Theater go to the Arcade and talk with the man above

After the dialogue is over he will open up a route down into the sewers for you. This first room in the sewers confused me a bit, you can actually run along the southern wall and keep going over to the right. It looks like you're boxed in with no way across but that's not the case.

In the second room of the sewers you'll find a hot springs and a door that leads to 3 trash cans (2 have treasures and one is an enemy). Rest up at the hot springs here and keep following the linear path through the sewers, you'll be taken back to the main room where you'll climb up a ladder and go through a door near the Mole Cricket we saw earlier.

Head up the stairs and down the hallway to find your dog, the room that your dog was/is protecting has quite the surprise... Inside this next room you'll find an NPC named Leder, he was the bell tower ringer from Tazmily Village. You may remember him as the "human" that was 10-20x larger than any other NPC in the game. He was so large in fact, that his entire body didn't even fit on one screen.

Leder will give you the largest exposition in the entire game when you speak with him. Once it's finished pick up the Stink Bug's Memory and work your way back through the sewers and to the originally ladder we came down at. When you approach the ladder you'll be confronted by our old friend Fassad again.

Miracle Fassad Boss Fight

Just like always my main advice to you is buff your Offense and Defense and debuff the boss's. Use Duster to help Kumatora debuff the boss and use your main character to buff up your team. Once you're fully buffed and you've fully debuffed the boss it's time to lay into him and push him into phase 2. During the second phase Fassad will alternate between using a powerful PSI attack and eating a banana to heal himself. It's important you finish all of the buffing and debuffing before you advance to that part of the fight.

All in all I found this to be a very easy fight, most of my characters were 55+ at this time though. Continue up the ladder and return to the city, the first thing you'll notice is that tons more people have arrived - including more residents from Tazmily!

Explore and talk to whomever you'd like, when you're ready to advance the story forward it's time to head over to the Empire Porky Building and go inside. You can find the Empire Porky Building in the northern portion of town, we visited here earlier to use the vending machine next to it.

Note: Use up any remaining DP that you have to purchase whatever upgrades you still need. Starting soon there will be no more shops in the game which will make any money left over useless.

Head inside of the Empire Porky Building and inspect the elevator in the left wing. You'll meet an elevator tech who tells you it can only go to the 24th floor for the time being, so this is where we'll start. Head inside and watch the scene. When you regain control of Duster pick up the afro and keep watching the scene.

DCMC will play their music one last time - during their final song the power will be cut and the "final game" will begin. When you regain control of your characters return to the elevator and ride it up yet again. This next floor will have an Instant Revitalizing Machine that you should use.

The only enemy on this floor is Hippo Launchers - the only one that you have to fight is the one that is shot at you by the Hippo Researcher. After you beat the Hippo Researcher go through the door behind you to collect Ultimate Shoes, a powerful weapon for Duster. Go through the door behind where you fight the Hippo Researcher and then go right in the next room (pictured below). This game loves throwing confusing passages at you that look like walls and are walls in other games/areas 99% of the time!

Porkys Tower Hippo Floor

Follow the directions in my picture above and you will go down into the water, collect two presents and you can exit via the elevator in the north. The next room will be Mr. Porky's fan room and you can talk to whomever you wish, when you're done exit to the east. Ride the elevator up again and this time you'll find yourself in what's known as the Bathroom Floor.

Use the Instant Revitalizing Device and then go east into the next room. How these next few areas work is one door will lead you to the next hallway and the rest lead you to something random. Check my list below to see what each door leads to.

Hallway 1:

Door 1: Dialogue

Door 2: Enemy - Pigmask Major

Door 3: Present - Attack Attractor

Door 4: Dialogue

Door 5: To the next hallway

Hallway 2:

Door 1: Enemies - Pigmask Major & Metal Attack Roach

Door 2: Nothing

Door 3: Dialogue

Door 4: To next area

Door 5: Present - Honey Shower

Hallway 3:

Each door leads to a bathroom with a theme except for door #4 which takes you to the next area.

Door 4: To next area

Hallway 4:

The doors are left to right now since the layout of these rooms changes. Door #3 has enemies and a Red Collar inside, Door #4 will take you to the next hallway.

Hallway 5:

Our next hallway is a bit unique, in the final room you'll find the Ultimate Chimera (pictured below). Examine the door 3 times and then enter the door to the left. You'll hear the Ultimate Chimera break through the door and into the hallway. Enter the room the chimera was in before and loot the present for an Awesome Ring. This item is for your main character and it comes with +30 Defense and +30 PP.

When you're ready to continue with the dungeon go through the red door in my picture above. Continue north to the elevator and ride it up yet again. This time you'll find yourself on the Magypsy Floor; enter the house and open all of the presents to obtain 5 Luxury Banana and 1 Ancient Banana. Also, be sure to pick up the Razor and Lipstick on the floor, this is a memento and it works just like the others.

To continue go east and talk with the mouse then ride the elevator up. On this next floor you'll want to use the Instant Revitalizing Device in the first room. The theme of this next floor is construction and as you'll quickly notice there are tons of enemies that you'll have to deal with. Follow the linear path until you reach the area shown in my picture below.

If you talk to the NPC in this area he'll mention tackling people and how you shouldn't do that. Run into him using the B button and he will fall and grab onto the ledge nearby, you'll be able to cross by walking across his back (as shown in the picture below).

Tackle Man To Cross

After crossing the human bridge going north will lead you to a dead end with a Favorite Pizza present. You'll want to go east to advance the story, charge into someone in the next room too and you'll make another human bridge out of him. From here you'll want to go north through the door, climb up the ladders and you'll be led straight to a crane and a lever.

Pull the lever and watch the short scene, when it's finished run across the new human bridge and continue east. Keep going in this direction and you will reach the elevator that goes up to the next area. When you reach the new area the first thing you'll want to do is use the Instant Revitalizing Device (as always).

This next floor has a laboratory theme throughout, much like the previous floor there will be no map too so navigation is entirely up to you. Unlike the previous floor, the enemies on this floor are a total nightmare to deal with. Most of the enemies hit very hard, one of them has an instant KO attack and you also have one that explodes on death for 300 damage.

You'll want to always defeat the Nuclear Reactor Robot last since you can avoid the 300 damage hit by ending the battle. Ending the fight stops the HP counter from ticking down and will save you from all of the damage. If you're struggling with the inhabitants of this floor I strongly recommend you level up a bunch and spend some time in close proximity to the Instant Revitalizing Device.

Better strategy would help too, use a lot more PSI attacks and explore this floor in waves. Do a few rooms and see their layout then return to the Instant Revitalizing Device, rinse and repeat. There are two items I strongly recommend you get on this floor, Canine Weapon - this is the only weapon in the game for your dog. Also you'll want to get the Sagittarius Bracelet towards the end of this floor which is an upgrade for most of your team.

Pigmask Colonels can be found on this floor and they have a chance to drop the Awesome Cloak which is a best in slot piece of equipment for Lucas aka your main character.

Porkys Lab Green Capsules
When you find the room with green tubes, go west to find the elevator

When you reach the room with the people inside the green tubes (pictured above) you'll want to travel west to reach the elevator. There will be a bunch of stairs after which you will find the Host, he'll tell you that he is the guy from before who gave you the ride in the limo. Now he is going to be the guy who puts you through some mini game trials.

For these mini games you can't win, you have to lose by a thin margin typically so that porky won't be upset. Below are the scores you need to do for each of the mini games.

Super Whack-a-Mole: Only hit 9 moles

Race: Let him hit the finish line first then you hit it. I just ran straight across and waited for him to catch up and complete the race

To Whom Goes The Boom: Inflate the balloon until it grows four times then stop. Normally you press A two times per inflation.

Once you're done with the final mini game you'll want to travel through the hallway, use the sofa to restore your health and go to the next floor. You'll encounter a boss known as N.K. Cyborg - use the normal boss strategy for this fight, buff yourself up and debuff the boss. Also have your main character focus on healing while everyone was blows him up. All things considered the fight is pretty easy... My characters were also in their mid 60s at the time for me though.

Go through the door that the N.K. Cyborg was blocking and follow the linear route to a boat. Ride the boat to a new area and use the healing machine here, continue down the hallway and to a large room where you will finally meet Porky.

Porky First Meeting

For this boss fight we break from tradition because we're going to be fighting 7+ enemies. Instead of debuffing the boss into oblivion you'll only want to buff yourself. Use any bombs and consumables like that since this is the last good opportunity to use them. The main thing that makes this fight difficult is the massive amount of damage the robots do when they explode. For this reason you'll want to keep your HP up and avoid PSI attacks and lots of AoE attacks. One bomb a round is all you really want to throw.

My strategy is to do single target melee attacks with bombs being the only AoE attacks I do. After you defeat 7 robots you'll get a scene. When the scene is finished you will be dropped into a new area, we'll call it the final cave. After your father ditches you continue east down the stairs and along the only path you can go.

At the bottom you'll find a save frog and a present that works just like a hot springs. Continue through the large cave entrance and keep following the linear path, you'll have some enemies along the way now but nothing you can't handle. You will eventually come across your father hunched over, talk to him a dozen or so times and you will get a little bit of hidden dialogue.

Continue along the path and you'll come to a present that contains a Real Bat inside. This is the final upgrade for our main character that we'll be getting. Further up the path you'll run into Porky and there will be a scene.

Porky Second Meeting

Like always you should buff up your party and debuff the boss. Once you're done with all of the buffs and debuffs attack like normal until you eventually beat Porky. Technically you will only beat his machine, he will crawl into the "Absolutely Safe Capsule" for the time being.

Continue north after this fight and you'll eventually pass a save frog and a hot springs. You have one more fight coming up but this fight isn't like the previous ones. For the final fight against the Masked Man your only objective is to survive long enough for the story to take over and for you to win. Use your Guard skill and the Lifeup skill to stay alive, what I did is Guard every round until I got around 100HP then I would heal.

After casting the heal let the dialogue hang until your health gets back to full. Then start the guard, guard, guard cycle all over again as he beats you up. He hits very hard and you will use too much PP if you try and heal every round. Just keep guarding and healing when you get low and the fight will eventually end.

There will be a long scene after which you'll see "End?" displayed on the screen. Move around the dialogue box to read all of the dialogue at the end. That's all there is to it! The game is officially over.
