Golden Sun: The Lost Age - Walkthrough Chapter 8
Our next puzzle is best described as a log puzzle even though what you're pushing around is mostly pillars. Our goal is to get the pillar in the middle all the way over to the right, this will let us get the chest here which contains an Erinyes Tunic.
If you need help figuring out which logs to push I recommend you use my screenshot below. Most of the logs are only pushed one time but the one in the middle you'll have to push twice. First you push it to the left so that you can get behind the log on the right. Then you push it to the left to reach the chest.
When you're done with this puzzle exit the room in the south and use Cyclone on the purple ring outside. This will take you upstairs, follow the southern route through the various chambers until you come across a circle of platforms with nothing in the center that you can jump to. As always, we'll use Reveal to expose the middle platform which allows us to jump across.
Go up the stairs and you'll find a large room with a bunch more jumping platforms on it. Visit the platform in the southeast of this room and use the slide to fall down into the pit below. If you want the chest in this room that contains a Meditation Rod then you'll have to rearrange the pillars a bit.
Pillar Movement To Reach Chest:
Lower Right Pillar: Move it left 1 tile
Upper Pillar: Push it to the far left
Left Pillar: Up as far as possible
Once all the pillars are in the right spot, climb up the ladder on the eastern side of the room and grab the chest. The next step is important for creating a shortcut, exit this room via the door in the southwest. You'll come outside in the same area you see me in the picture below. Here you'll want to push the block over one spot to the right - so it's in the same spot as my picture. Then step on the button to drop it down below.
Move the block one tile to the right then drop it below
Head back inside of the lighthouse and go up the stairs on the left, drop down and follow the only path until you reach the top of the lighthouse. We can't do anything here currently so follow the left path to go back inside of the lighthouse and head down the stairs on the opposite side. You'll come across a spot that you can slide down in a large central room - slide down here.
Approach the ladder in the central part of this room and you will trigger a scene (pictured below). Climb up the ladder and when you're standing on top of this platform use your hover Psynergy. This will activate the lighthouse and open up a lot more to exploration.
Climb the ladder and use Hover to activate the lighthouse
From this room you'll want to travel through the passage on the right hand side. This will put you into the large room from earlier - you can now use Hover in the middle of this room and walk over to the platform in the bottom left. On top of this platform you'll find the Red Key which is an important item for opening doors here.
After colleting the key push the block in the middle of the area up the central purple line to the top. This will make it hover and it will give you a path to jump across to reach the stairs that go down. From here you'll want to retrace your steps and keep going down until you come to the location from earlier where you used Reveal to jump across the blocks.
This time you'll want to go right in this room and use Reveal to jump across the floating platforms. You'll be lead straight to a chest with a Psy Crystal inside. Once you have the chest jump across both areas using Reveal and exit this room to the southwest. Near the exit you'll notice a purple cyclone circle as well as a red door... this is where we need to go next. Head downstairs and look for the purple cyclone circle (pictured below). Use Cyclone at this location to be taken up to the red door.
Use Cyclone on this circle to reach the red door
Open the red door continue through the dungeon. The next room will have you dodge whirlwinds as you cross the bridge going west, all you need to do is duck into a corner to safely avoid them. After the bridge enter back inside of the tower and pass the statue of an archer pointing east. In the next room you'll find a chest that turns out to be a Mimic in the west. When defeated the Mimic will drop a Psy Crystal.
Continue east through the dungeon after the fight and you'll come to another room with a log puzzle. For right now we can't solve this log puzzle to reach the Blue Key so we'll just have to leave it. Push the log on the right hand side south so that we can get to the doorway up north. This room will have cracked floor tiles which will have you fall down one floor below you when they break. As you may expect there is a badly damaged tile in the middle which takes us to the key - but we still can't get it yet.
For now we have to compromise and get the readily available chests first. The chest on the right is easy to get - inside you'll find 306 Coins. As for the chest on the left, exit this room to the south to reset the tiles and when you enter again use Move on the pillar to push it into the pit below. Now you can jump to it from the left hand side and reach the chest with a Mist Potion.
Now that we got both chests exit this room to the south and continue up the stairs to reach the floor with all of the cracked tiles (pictured below).
This puzzle looks very confusing but it's actually pretty easy. What you need to do is walk over to the left Hover tile and use your Hover Psynergy on it. While hovering avoid all of the darkened tiles and land as close as you can to the pillar on the left. Use Move to push the pillar onto the button and then do the same thing with the other Hover tile on the right. You should be able to see a safe route across the light tiles to the Hover tile on the right after finishing the left one.
You won't find a pillar on the right hand side but you will find a hallway that leads to a door. Follow the linear route to the roof of the tower and push the block into the hole near the archer statue. The archer statue will fire an arrow at the angel statue in the center and half the lid will be lifted. Return downstairs and fall through the cracked floor to get back to a familiar area.
Go back upstairs to the room with all of the cracked floor tiles and this time fall through the cracked floor tile in the southern portion of the main room that is separate from the rest. It's found in a small box at the southern part of the room surrounded by normal flooring. When you drop through this tile it will put you inside the ring of obstacles with one more cracked tile, fall through this one and through one more to find yourself right next to the Blue Key. Grab the key then exit this room to the south.
Return to the main tower and take the Cyclone teleporter that is near the red door back down to the first floor. North of this teleporter there will be a pillar you can Move to the right, if you haven't already. This will create a shortcut for later if we want to take advantage of it. Backtrack a bit more, we're looking for the room shown in my screenshot below.
Once you find this room what you need to do is use your Move Psynergy on the block in the bottom right and push it over to the left one tile. This will make it levitate and give us a bridge across to the new doorway. Follow the linear route through the next few rooms until you reach an area with a block you can push downstairs and a slide down.
Push the block downstairs and then slide down so that you can finish pushing the block into the hole. This will create a Hover platform for you, so use Hover and walk over to the ledge on the left. Use Cyclone next to the circle on this ledge and you'll be taken up one floor. In the northern part of the next room you will find a pillar you can push into the pit to the left, do this to create a shortcut back to the main room.
Go southeast to reach another outside area, here you'll want to push the weird antenna block into the hole to activate the tower in this area. Return to the central room of the tower again and this time we're going to use Hover on the platform and walk into the central beam of light (pictured below).
Use Hover where I am standing and walk into the central beam of light
Use Hover where you see me standing in this picture and walk over into the beam of light. This will shoot you up to a top floor where you'll want to exit the beam of light via the path on the right. If you want the Potion inside of the chest go downstairs and use Move on the block here, push it over onto the purple circle to make a complete bridge.
Exit the room in the bottom right and follow the linear path to a room with the blue door. DO NOT use Cyclone here or you'll have to walk all the way back. Open the blue door and head through to find yourself outside in the area where we activated the Hover pad earlier. Let's make use of that pad and use Hover - when you do you'll be thrown over to the right tower.
Inside the tower you're looking for a room with a Jupiter Djinni and multiple holes in the floor which you can fill with tiles. You'll want to use the hover circle in the top right to reach the first puzzle piece, it will activate another hover tile which you'll use and rinse/repeat.
Once you finish the puzzle the pillar in the top right of the room will shoot up; check out Djinni Locations (Part 4) for more information about how to get the Djinni you see in this room. When you're done, align everything like my screenshot above again and exit out of this room via the door in the northwest.
The next room has two different puzzle combinations, one will allow us to get a chest with a Water of Life inside of it and the other will let us advance to the next area. In my humble opinion it's not worth your time to get the Water of Life item since it takes too long to rearrange everything - but to each there own.
For starting the puzzle, use Pound on the pillar in this room to knock the block out of the hole. Use Move on it and then push it over to create a jumping point to reach the ladder. This lets you move around blocks from the bottom and position them so you can jump across them when you turn back on the Hover powers.
Below you'll find two screenshots, the first of which shows you how to get the Water of Life and the second will show you how to advance to the next puzzle.
Use this block combination to get the Water of Life from the chest
Align the blocks like you see in this screenshot to advance to the next room
In the next room you will find a pillar you can move onto a switch, push it over to create a shortcut then continue upstairs. Go through one more room and you will eventually come to a room with a bunch of cracked floor tiles - just like inside the previous tower.
Avoid the dark tiles and go to the right, avoid the whirlwinds too. The easiest/best way to avoid the first whirlwind statue is by faking it out and making it spit out a whirlwind. Stand one tile away from it and run into its path then back away - this will cause it to spit a whirlwind which you can easily dodge. After it spits the whirlwind you can easily run by it and get to where you're going.
Our exit from this room is in the south, take the stairs up and you will find yourself in a large room with a ton of hover tiles. We need to use Hover right when we enter this room and then run up the left side for a chest that contains Phaeton's Blade. This is a good weapon for your main character.
Note: Unlike the last room, you can't "fake out" the whirlwind faces in the room with dozens of hover tiles. You need to run far away from them to avoid the whirlwinds that they spit. Sometimes this will require you to run across the broken tiles on the far side of the room too.
Exit the room with all of the hover tiles in the northeast and continue through the dungeon until you reach the top of the right tower. Push the block into place and the archer will shoot at the other angel, fully lifting the central tower piece up. Now we need to backtrack through this tower and through the central tower to the seal we just lifted up.
Along the way here you'll have a scene with Isaac and the others from the previous Golden Sun game. When it's over continue the last bit of the journey and you'll have a scene with Alex right before you get outside to where Isaac is, he'll heal your entire team regardless of what you answer him.
Step outside and there will be a long scene after which you'll only have control of Felix and Piers. Head upstairs over and over again until you reach the top of the lighthouse. Throw the Jupiter Star inside of the lighthouse and there will be another scene up here followed by a boss battle. You'll start this battle with only Felix and Piers but Jenna and Sheba will show up during the fight.
Once the fight is over there will be another long scene, during which Felix will ride the elevator down back into the lighthouse. When you regain control of Felix exit the Jupiter Lighthouse and once you're back on the World Map travel south to the town of Contigo.
