Tip #1: Your Influence decays over time, spend it!
Tip #2: Before leaving base, decide what you're going to do. If you're going to scavenge close to your own base then take only the bare minimum with you. Typically a melee weapon is all I bring, if there is a hoard/extra enemies nearby then I will sometimes bring a bottle of pills and a single snack too. When you are going on a mission, you should bring a stack of pills, a stack of ammo and a fully loaded gun + melee weapon.
- Use Car headlights/horn to draw zombies out of infected buildings or any area with close quarters that could easily overwhelm you.
- When you ask a character to follow you around and watch your back, you're able to switch to them any time out in the field by opening the menu and selecting them. This will effectively allow you two whole inventories worth of items to fill up! Another tip is to only stock your main character's inventory with extra bullets, snacks and pills. The character who is following you doesn't use snacks or pills and can't fire a gun so there's no reason for you to use them and take up that inventory space.
- To get two people to always follow your character, when you do a "Search and Rescue", "Zed Hunt", or any "Morale Issue" mission the survivor you help out will follow you until you've completed the mission. This survivor also will not return any helper you currently have with you to base, meaning they both will follow you around and help out.
- Call in a runner to a building that has available resources; once Lily tells you that the runner is inbound take the resource yourself and then wait for the runner arrive. They will act normally as if the resource was still there effectively letting you double your haul.
- Equip a silencer on all of your companions. When they get into the watch tower their shots will be silenced and will attract a lot less zombies.
- When you exit the game all of the Zombie Hordes and Freak zombies despawn.
