Leading A Guild

This guide will give you tips and hints on how to lead a good, friendly guild. Since leading A guild means dealing with people this guide may not always work. Use this guide roughly and more of an Overview instead of a "spot on guide" and you will get more out of it. Hopefully my guide will help! =)

Starting A Guild

First things first, starting a guild. Depending on your game you will be required to find a few players to start up your guild. The first thing you will need to decide on is, of course your guilds name. Of course you will have to like your guilds name, but it's also important that other people like your guilds name as well. I doubt any serious gamers would join a guild called "Pink Fairy Princesses".

Before you create your guild you should have a rough idea of what you want your rules to be. Also you should have at least one close friend, or someone you know to make an officer of the guild. Someone who usually is around as much as you or when you're not around.

When you first start a guild, you shouldn't have a minimum requirement on joining. You need to get your guild name out there, so people know about you. Also you don't want to bother people to much, or advertise to much in a general channel otherwise you will give yourself a bad name.

If you start out to strict with leading a guild people wont join since you don't have many people. If people do happen to join, they will probably leave soon after once they realize you don't have many people, or are strict. One thing to always keep in mind when starting a guild is you will ALWAYS lose some people. Usually people will leave during the night, when no one is online to see them leave.

It's very important you don't get discouraged or depressed when people leave, It will happen. My rule of thumb, that usually works is when someone leaves recruit two people in their place. This works of course until you're a bigger guild and you don't recruit off the street.

Leading A Guild

Once you've actually got a guild made and it's prospering, leading is a whole different story. You will have to deal with daily drama and Organizing guild events such as raids and groups. It's not all bad though, everyone looks up to you and you'll never have to look for a group again. Who doesn't want to group with their guild leader!

You have to remember no matter how hard you try, it's impossible to keep everyone happy. The sooner you figure this out the better. Someone will always have a problem with someone else in the guild and put you right in the middle of it. A Good rule of thumb is DON'T GET INVOLVED, I know this sounds silly since you're the guild leader and all.. But if you do get involved, you'll be accused of picking favorites and piss more people off then you expected.

Just break it up and tell them to stop acting like children.

Closing

Leading A Guild Isn't easy and won't always be fun. It will require you to have Thick Skin and a high tolerance level for stupid bullshit (As George Carlin Used to say). In the end someone has to do it and the sense of accomplishment of being a leader of a good guild is amazing.
