Rockhopper Hides (35 - 40)
Location: Marus Seru and Dawnshroud Peaks Farming Rockhopper Hides in Marus Seru or Dawnshroud Peaks will net you less money then farming for Bear or Wolf Pelts in Goru'kar Mesa as well as less XP. However, the reason this location is worth mentioning is if you don't have the Secrets of Faydwer expansion. If you don't have that expansion, which I'll admit is very rare, then this is the next best place. Or hell, even if you're just bored of Goruk'ar Mesa then this is a good place for you to go. Unlike Goru'kar Mesa there are no "ultra awesome vendor trash" from the Rock Hoppers. All the stuff they drop the hides is pretty generic and won't net you a lot of money at a vendor.
The camp in Dawnshroud Peaks is better than the one in Marus Seru for Farming the Rockhopper Pelts. However, sometimes the Rockhoppers are not spawning in the cave and instead the Sambatas are. There is a leader for both of these factions that spawns inside the cave. The Rockhopper "leader" is the Ancient Rockhopper or an old aged rockhopper. Both have been said to trigger the Sambata spawn. The Sambata leader is Sambata Tribal Leader Garn. When he is killed the Rockhoppers will take over the cave. It is very important that you do not kill the Rockhopper leader, if you do then you will destroy this camp. The easiest way to get to this camp in Dawnshroud Peaks is by taking The Nexus stone from PoK. From The Nexus you will want to head to Netherbian Lair. Now, Netherbian Lair will take you to either Dawnshroud or Marus Seru, that is the cool part about this zone. To get to Dawnshroud you will want to go straight south.
The Rockhoppers in Marus Seru don't have a "condition" like the ones in Dawnshroud do. The Rockhoppers in Marus Seru kind of just patrol around the landscape aimlessly. There is a, sweet spot, where you can find a lot of them though. This sweet spot is in the large blue circle on my map which you can see above. You can find beetles, Rockhoppers and rock golems patrolling all around this area. If you stop seeing the Rockhoppers then you will want to start killing the beetles and golems since they are place holders for the hoppers. The easiest way to get to Marus Seru is by taking The Nexus stone from PoK. From The Nexus you will want to head to Netherbian Lair. Now, Netherbian Lair will take you to either Dawnshroud or Marus Seru, that is the cool part about this zone. To get to Marus Seru from Netherbian you will want to go south and take the first right you come across. As a final note, the hides that are worth money are the Flawless, Low Quality, Medium Quality, High Quality and Superb. If you find any other type you mine as well vendor it. - You may even have to vendor the Low Quality and Medium Quality depending on if you have a server with good population numbers and people raising tailoring.
